Homeless Sex Offender charged with rape
A registered sex offender pleaded not guilty earlier this week to charges that he had kidnapped and raped a woman in a Southern California parking lot. The man is identified as Michael Zinzun and was in court on Wednesday and entered a not guilty plea in a Glendale courtroom. Police were called Wednesday at about four in the morning to Los Feliz Road and Central avenue, where a witness reported a sexual assault as it was happening. According to police, Zinzun approached a 56-year-old woman who was sleeping on a bus bench and asked her if she wanted to smoke meth. The woman told the suspect no, but he kept on persisting on her smoking meth with him. However, things began to escalate as she continued to deny his request. Eventually the man got closer and closer to the woman and began groping her. The victim struggled but did not have the strength to get him away from her. This is when the witness across the street realized what was happening and immediately called the cops before trying to help the victim. When police showed up to the scene, they found the man on top of the victim trying to take her clothes off. Police arrested him and he recently had his first court appearance where he plead not guilty to the charges.
